I personally prefer the Qualia and HD2K to the 3 chip DLPs after owning each (a SIM2 HT500). If you need to go to a big screen (or just like really bright images) and the lumens from these LCOS machines aren't enough, then the extra lumens of these 3 chip DLPs could come in handy. In my case, I'll just use a high gain screen for my theater room. I've been trying to figure out how I could get a 128" wide screen with the HD2K, but the throw is too long for that. By poking a hole in the back wall and putting the projector there I could go to 112" wide though. With either screen I would be at 15 ft-lamberts or more at a 2.0 gain seating position. I would like to have the bright mode like the Qualia has for sports and lights on viewing, but I would just have to live with the dimmer mode on the HD2K
The Qualia and HD2K each have advantages compared to each other. I prefer the HD2K right now overall, but the Qualia does have better ANSI CR.
