With breathtakingly sharp pictures, Philips will introduce the 9700 series in summer 2009. The 9700 series is built to offer pure performance in picture sharpness, motion and contrast and features the latest innovations in LCD technology – including the latest in internet TV. The 9700 series with its distinctive design, executed in brushed aluminum, will be available in 40”, 46” and 52” screen sizes with an optional “always straight” wall mounting system available.
Pure performance in picture quality
The 9700 series combines the latest generation of full HD displays (1920x1080p) with the award-winning Philips LED local dimming backlight technology (LED LUX), which delivers superior contrast with the deepest black levels. In addition to the improvements in the display, Philips is introducing local contract picture processing, which makes the dark part of the image darker, and the bright parts of the image brighter. This delivers dramatically superior contrast with deep black levels and superb brilliance with an astonishing 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
The 9700 series is also the world’s fastest LCD courtesy of 200Hz Clear LCD and an unbeatable 1 millisecond response time which banishes the motion blur problem common with LCD TVs. 200Hz Clear LCD creates extreme motion sharpness for clear and vibrant images even with fast on-screen motion.
As well as featuring the award-winning LED LUX technology, the 9700 series comes fully equipped with Philips most advanced screen processing technologies. The 2009 version of Perfect Pixel HD engine processes five hundred million pixels per second, to deliver unrivalled sharpness and detail. Each pixel of the incoming picture is enhanced to better match the surrounding pixels, delivering a more natural and lifelike picture.
Perfect Colors is the combination of new color sources, advanced colour processing for both existing and new sources, and a Wide Color Gamut display. The powerful 17-bit Color Booster technology pumps out a mesmerizing 2,250 trillion colors, producing brilliant life-like images with natural skin and white tones. The Wide Color Gamut display and x.v. Wide Color HDMI input display the most vivid and vibrant colours.
Perfect Natural Motion ensures judder-free and razor sharp images, which is particularly critical with 1080p/24 source material. Perfect Natural Motion estimates motion in the picture and corrects juddering movements in both broadcast and recorded movie material (e.g., DVD and Blu-ray Disc). Perfect Natural Motion results in smoother and quieter pictures with excellent sharpness surpassing even the motion performance in a cinema.
The set boasts the newest 2009 version of Philips immersive Ambilight Spectra 3 technology, which accurately identifies dominant on-screen colors and generates accurately-matched ambient lighting from three sides of the screen onto a rear wall.
Pure performance in sound
As pure performance includes the sound quality as well as the picture quality, the 9700 series sports 2x15W high-efficiency speakers to provide leading sound performance. The speaker system consists of front firing dome tweeters integrated into the front of the TV that are covered by sound grilles to provide excellent clarity and radiate sound quality. The large volume bass and speaker boxes are integrated into the back of the TV providing deep and warm sound with high output.
Net TV
A notable new feature addition to the 9700 series is Net TV, which enables simple and quick internet access to a wide range of sites from a start page on the TV screen. The Net TV feature has dedicated and tailored websites from European partners that include brand names such as YouTube, eBay, TomTom, MeteoGroup, Netlog, Funspot and MyAlbum plus a range of local partners offering the most popular websites per country. Through Net TV internet content is tailored for the best viewing experience on the TV screen, and is easily accessed through the TV’s remote control, without the need for extra set-top boxes or subscriptions.
Integrated Digital TV tuner and connectivity options
The 9700 series features an integrated DVB-T/DVB-C/MPEG-4 HDTV receiver to receive pristine high definition broadcasting where available. Easy to use and set-up, the 9700 series boasts five HDMI 1.3a EasyLink inputs to ensure easy connectivity between HDMI devices. In addition to Net TV, it also features Wi-Fi, Ethernet and a PC network link (DNLA) enabling access to the PC or other networked devices to view your videos, pictures and music.
