Follow-up review on the Korsun V8i - Some issues..., 2004-11-10
/...The build "quality" of the Korsun was excellent but this is not the first time I have had issues with chinese audio gear, and to be frank, I have had more problems than I have had success with chinese audio gear. I have owned Jolida, Xindak, Opera, Korsun, Ming-Da, etc... and with each of them (except Opera), I have had some sort of issue related to quality control. Don't get me wrong: I still stand by all of my initial impressions of the Korsun. It is a beast of an amp, very powerful. On its own though, it lacked a "pleasant" sonic signature and could sound "cold" and lifeless, but when mated with a good tube/SS preamp it can charm you. I still recommend the Korsun, as its a great amp for the money...but be sure to run it constantly when you first get it so as to make sure it doesn't have any issues. I think the chinese audio companies still have a lot to learn about quality control... it can be hit or miss. Enjoy the music! Clinton...
