I have forwarded your inquiry to Angelo Farina in Italy. I hope he can
give you a better answer than I can.
You need crosstalk cancelling software for the front channel speaker pair
and then ambience software and hall impulse responses to generate the
signals for the surround channels. At the moment the only crosstalk
cancelling software that I have available is for use with an Analog Devices
DSP card two analog in and two analog out. The software is on an EPROM
which plugs into the DSP board and no PC is required. We are working on an
all digital DSP version and a Linux PC version that might be available on a
CD-ROM that will load on any PC. The Linux software will include the
surround part of Ambiophonics.
I don't know when this software will be available for downloading. I can
only suggest that you check the Ambiophonics website www.ambiophonics.org
every so often.
Thanks for your interest,
Ralph Glasgal

The best solution for this kind of PC-based users is actually the
Ambiovolver software by Jose Javier Lopez, which can be downloaded free from his web site ( http://dcomserv.gnd.upv.es/jjlopez/AmbioVolver.zip ).
The sets of impulse responses to be used with Ambiovolver can be prepared with my software tools (aurora - www.ramsete.com/aurora ), or with The VirtualMike application ( http://mcgriffy.com/audio/ambisonic/vvmic/ ) for the "surround" part.
Three sets are downloadable from my web site ( HTTP://pcangelo.eng.unipr.it/public/AES19/Ambiovolver ). Three newer sets are being prepared just now (Anders Torger is working on them), which are the Arcimboldi theater in milan, the new Renzo Piano's Auditorium in Parma and the theater of La citè de La Musique in Paris.
Bye!
Angelo
